The Oman Psychiatric Society brings together psychiatrists and doctors in training to strengthen education, research and care across the Sultanate.

Our purpose
To be a trusted and united professional home for everyone in mental health, advancing the knowledge, skill and standards of the psychiatric community it brings together.

Eleven projects and programmes across education, research and public awareness, delivered over the past two years.
Medical education and professional development04 programmes
Continuing medical education programme
Online CME sessions about once a month, and two in some months, across psychiatry, psychology and mental health. Aimed at psychiatrists and psychologists, and streamed openly so medical students and the wider healthcare community can join.
In-person workshops and case forums
Workshops and case-based discussion forums for Society members, OMSB faculty and psychiatry residents, built around challenging clinical cases and the reasoning behind them.
First OPS International Conference
The Society's first international conference, held in Muscat in July 2026, bringing local and international colleagues together for workshops, plenaries and scientific exchange.
International symposium on TMS
A symposium on transcranial magnetic stimulation with local and international expertise, covering clinical applications, emerging evidence and developments in neuromodulation.
Promoting research02 programmes
Research mentorship programme
Structured mentorship for Society members and OMSB-affiliated psychiatrists. Over the past 12 months it supported four doctors, from the first research idea through study design to data collection.
Recruitment to mental health clinical trials
The Society helps investigators reach participants for clinical trials and research studies through its platforms, raising the visibility of research conducted here in Oman.
Community service and public awareness05 programmes
Wellbeing and resilience in education
Sessions for teachers in three schools, and programmes for students in two schools and two universities, on wellbeing, resilience, stress and the early recognition of mental health difficulties.
Women's mental health campaign
A dedicated awareness campaign on the mental health of women at different stages of life, improving mental health literacy and encouraging people to seek help early.
World Mental Health Day
Public awareness activities every October that challenge stigma, encourage help seeking and widen public understanding of common conditions and the support available.
Radio and media engagement
Members contribute regularly to radio programmes, television and interviews, taking evidence-based information on mental health directly to the public.
Community awareness through social media
Educational posts on psychological wellbeing, psychiatric disorders, treatment, stigma and resilience, reaching a wider audience with reliable information.

Media & Public Education
Leads public awareness, stigma reduction and the Society's engagement with the media.
Continuous Medical Education & Research
Oversees CPD, workshops and conferences, and supports research across the Society.
Early Career Development
Supports mentorship, training and career growth for early-career psychiatrists.
Ethics & Legislative
Ensures ethical psychiatric practice and advocates for improvements in policy and legislation.
